Law enforcement officers are reacting to the arrest of a pharmacy technician, accused of stealing hundreds of Oxycodone pills from her pharmacy.
Boyd County deputies arrested Margaret Campbell Saturday, after investigators say she was seen on surveillance video stealing more than 800 Oxy pills while on her job at Walmart pharmacy.
Boyd County Sheriff Terry Keelin says there are only two ways prescription pills can make it to the streets - either by theft or when a person in a position of trust, such as Campbell, steals it from a pharmacy.
He says it's disheartening that the pills are on the streets in this manner, because pharmacists, techs and doctors sometimes violate the trust that the public has for those positions.
Sheriff Keelin says legislation aimed at curbing prescription pill trafficking is working, and that drugs like heroin and meth are making a comeback.
