UPDATE:

Huntington police just released the name of the man shot this morning.

Kyle Michael Gibbs, 26, was shot a little after 8 a.m.  this morning in Huntington.

It happened on the 800 block of 10th Ave. Gibbs was found at the Speedway, which is about a block away at the corner of 8th St. and 9th Ave. He had multiple gunshot wounds.

Gibbs was taken by ambulance to Cabell Huntington Hospital, where he underwent surgery. Police say it appears the shooter and the victim knew each other, but they have not released the identity of any subject.

"The shooting is not specific to this location," said Huntington Police Chief Skip Holbrook. "It appears the parties involved were riding through the area, got into an argument, and it resulted in gunfire."

A Dodge Charger connected to the incident was recovered.


Huntington police are investigating a morning shooting that left one person injured.

According to dispatchers, the call came in at 8:06 a.m. Police responded to a shooting call near 817 10th Ave.

Police say the victim was found near 9th Ave. and 8th St. They didn't release the victim's name, but the person was taken away for treatment.
