Governor Earl Ray Tomblin recommended eight projects to receive the Appalachian Regional Commission Investment Program grants, according to a news release. The grants total more than $4.7 million.
"From water and sewer systems to education and entrepreneurship, the projects I've recommended for funding all help generate economic development," Gov. Tomblin said in the release.
Among the recommendations, West Virginia University at Parkersburg, in Wood County, has been recommended for $150,000 for its Culinary Arts Commercial Training Kitchen.
The Lincoln County Public Service District has been recommended $1,000,000 for its Alkol Waterline Extension.
The West Virginia Development Office has been recommended $225,000 for its Competitive Improvement Program.
"I appreciate the commitment shown by ARC as well as our local partners. I believe we can, together, continue to grow our economy and provide a brighter future for West Virginia," Tomblin said in the release.
