No one should be upset because no one picked the correct numbers to win the large Powerball jackpot last night. It didn't stop people from walking up to the lottery outlets to buy a chance at a multi-million

Despite problems with recycling efforts in Kanawha County, some feel it will work. The head of the West Virginia Solid Waste Management Board thinks a county-wide program could be successful in Kanawha County.
The county has been grappling with its recycling efforts ever since its century-old building on Slack Street was declared unsafe several months ago. It's resumed collecting materials at the site, but is hauling them elsewhere for processing.
Kanawha County Commissioner Kent Carper said he wants residents in the county to recycle, but he's concerned about the cost. "I don't think people are interested right now in another new program and a large new tax placed on your utility bill or placed on their refuse bill. Somewhere in between we have to figure out what's affordable, what do people want and how do we accomplish that," said Carper.
Kanawha County is one of six in West Virginia with ordinances that require county-wide recycling programs.
