After 12 months straight of hands-on training and learning the skills of the trade, 11 students from the Robert C Byrd Institute of Advanced Flexible Manufacturing, graduated on Tuesday. The graduates are fortunate because machinists are in high demand.
One graduate has worked really hard to get to this point, and it's all worth it because of the easy job placement.
"Every place I was in contact with needed a machinists. Some places were more willing to hire graduates that don't have experience. But there are plenty of jobs out there,"said Nathan Skaggs who just graduated.
Skaggs said he's already been hired as a machinist and loves what he does.
Ed Black is Machinist Technology Manager at the Institute."We've seen a tremendous amount of growth from the students coming in and leave here with a great confidence," Black said.
