American Electric Power made a $50,000 donation to the Hoops Family Children's Hospital at Cabell Huntington Hospital.
The new project is getting closer to its initial fundraising goal of $12 million, according to a news release.
Construction continues on a new entrance to the hospital that will lead patients and families to the new pediatrics ward.
The new Children's Hospital will have 71 beds for patients.
