Posted: Updated:

A Charleston man was sentenced to seven and a half years in federal prison on illegal drug charges, according to a new release from United States Attorney Booth Goodwin.

In April, Timothy Aaron Buckhannon, 39, pleaded guilty to aiding and abetting the distribution of crack cocaine.

Authorities said Buckhannon admitted to distributing crack cocaine in and around the Charleston area.

The West Virginia State Police and the Charleston Police Department Special Enforcement Unit conducted the investigation, according to the release.
