No one should be upset because no one picked the correct numbers to win the large Powerball jackpot last night. It didn't stop people from walking up to the lottery outlets to buy a chance at a multi-million
A federal jury has convicted a Mason County man on drug and weapon charges.
According to a news release from the U.S. Attorney's Office, David Michael Persons, 50, of West Columbia, was convicted of five counts of distributing heroin and possessing illegal firearms.
According to the news release, Persons sold heroin to undercover informants on two different occasions in 2010 from his Mason County home. A search warrant was issued, and officers found heroin and scales.
Officers also found a .22-caliber rifle, and a .410-gauge shotgun. Persons was convicted of a felony in 2007 and is not legally allowed to possess firearms.
Persons faces up to 20 years in prison for the first four counts and up to 10 years in prison for the gun charges. His sentencing is Oct. 29, 2012.
