A new rating system for restaurants in Kanawha County is meant to make the health standards of where you go to eat a little clearer.
It's now in effect and allows members of the health department to see if restaurants in the county are making progress and meeting standards for people who go out to eat.
The Kanawha-Charleston Health Department started to implement the new system on Thursday. As part of the launch, health inspectors are giving restaurants along Corridor G and within South Charleston city limits the new, color-coded ratings placards.
The color "green" signifies "excellent compliance", "yellow" indicates "good compliance" and "orange" reflects "fair compliance."
