Charleston to take part in National Night Out

The Charleston Police Department is getting ready to take part in the National Night Out Against Crime.

The Night Out is set for Tuesday, Aug. 7. It is aimed at raising awareness of crime and drug prevention and to gain support for neighborhood watch programs, according to a news release from the Department.

The Police and Fire departments along with Charleston city leaders are set to take part in events throughout the city from 6-8 p.m.:

  • Hillcrest Drive Housing Development
  • Oakhurst and Lawndale Lane Development
  • South Park Development
  • Jarrett Terrace
  • Lee Terrace
  • Carroll Terrace
  • Lippert Terrace
  • Washington Manor
  • Fourth Avenue and Florida Street
  • Oakwood Terrace
  • Second Avenue Recreation Center

 A safety vehicle parade is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. at the Orchard Manor Complex.
