The Mason County Sheriff's department arrested a man and charged him with attempting to operate a meth lab after finding materials in his back pack.

Officers arrested Eric Humphreys, 34, of Gallipolis, on Thursday in Mason.

Police said residents of a mobile home park saw him walking around. The Sheriff's Department said Humphreys was carrying around a back pack and was collecting meth-making materials. Police believe Humphreys is homeless.
