Huntington High School's Local School Improvement Council has been awarded a $10,000 grant, according to a press release.

The money will go towards a program called, "Incentives for Success: Rewarding At-Risk Students for Improving their Performance."

The program will target at-risk students already in the county's truancy court program, according to the release.

Students who have failed required courses will also be able to participate in the recovery program.

Steve M. Freeman, Graduation Coach at Huntington High School, said, "The purpose of the grant is not to reward students for doing what we expect but to show the students how much we care about them. Most at-risk students are not given positive reinforcements but punishments when they do something incorrect."

Students who participate have to gradually increase their GPA with the goal of making Honor Roll.
