The Tri-State Fire Academy in Huntington hosted its annual Fish Fry to show appreciation to supporters and fire fighters.

The fish fry used to be a celebration of the end of training for new firefighters, but since training is now throughout the year, they have decided to continue the tradition of the dinner anyway. It gives them a chance to show supporters how the funding is being used and for firefighters to socialize.

"The money that we receive, we like to show they how it's being used. We open up the facility for tours and if we have anything new, we like to show it. We like to show who we're training and why we are training," said Darren DeMattie, director of the Tri-State Fire Academy.

Sunday, firefighters will train on getting a patient out of a car by using the jaws of life to extricate them.
