Fayette County sheriff's deputies are investigating an early morning shooting that sent one man to the hospital.

Josh Treadway, 27, of Oak Hill, was shot in the lower leg, deputies said. Sheriff's deputies were notified at about 1:29 a.m. that Treadway was brought into Plateau Medical Center.

When deputies arrived, they learned Treadway had been shot 30 minutes earlier in the Ansted area. Treadway told police who the suspected shooter was. That name has not been released.

Treadway was transferred to Raleigh General Hospital where he underwent surgery, police said. The wound is not considered life-threatening but Treadway's condition was not released.

When deputies left the hospital, they found and spoke with the suspect in the shooting as well as other potential witnesses, deputies said.  They also checked the area where the shooting is reported to have happened for evidence.

No charges were filed this morning. Detective Cpl. J.M Pack along with deputies N.D. Hall and G.W. Rinehart of the sheriff's office are investigating.
