A four-vehicle wreck in the are of the construction zone is adding to the traffic backup, according to emergency dispatchers in Putnam County.
At least one person was transported to the hospital as a result of the
wreck, according to dispatchers. There was no word on their conditions.
Dispatchers said the crash happed just after 2 p.m. at the Cross Lanes exit, which is at mile marker 47.
Drivers are being advised to take a detour around mile markers 43 to 47 on I-64 West this afternoon.
Construction work already caused a traffic delay as one lane was shut down at 9 a.m. Monday.

Road work on Interstate 64 West is causing traffic congestion near Cross Lanes, according to the West Virginia Department of Transportation.
The slow lane is closed near the Cross Lanes exit, according to the DOT. The work is scheduled to wrap up at 3 p.m.
Last week, work near the same location in the eastbound lanes caused major traffic backups several days.
