CHARLESTON, West Virginia -

Circuit Court Judge Duke Bloom this afternoon named a replacement following Magistrate Judge Carol Fouty's resignation.

Kristen Vieweg was sworn in by Bloom Monday afternoon. Vieweg has worked five years as a magistrate assistant for Fouty. She is an attorney and has a degree in elementary education.

"I was [Fouty's] assistant and it was an honor working with her," said Vieweg. "As I said in my oath, I plan to follow the laws of West Virginia and the Constitution.

Fouty resigned Sunday. She has been accused of showing favoritism in some of her court cases and is scheduled for a hearing before the West Virginia Supreme Court of Appeals this Wednesday.
