Children compete in Summer Camp Olympics

Posted: Updated:

Playmates Preschools and Child Development Centers hosted the Summer Camp Olympics Monday.

The event featured several activities for the 200 kids that took part.

Long jump, sack races and running were some of the events that the children competed in.

The Summer Camp Olympics were the end to a summer learning experience that taught kids about other countries.

Each child picked a country at the beginning of the summer and learned about different aspects of it.

Organizers say they wanted to have something to combine fun and learning at the same time.

"It is an excellent activity. They get to go back to school with what they learned," said Lori Murdock.

The children competed in a trivia contest answering questions about what they learned the last few months.
