We told you about the story last month; a business is under fire by the health department and those who have stayed there, all over bed bugs and mold.
The Heath Department has now given them until next Monday to get 10 pages of recommendations by the health department taken care of.
The original date to have everything up to code was supposed to be Monday, Aug. 6, but the owner says he had to request an extension.
He says he's never seen a bed bug in any of his rooms, but he's making the necessary changes anyway.
"We want to fix it, you know, fixing it is the way to go," said owner, Navnit Sangani.
Just last month, 13NEWS visited the American Inn and Budget Inn in Hurricane after we got word the Health Department shut it down.
But the motel is back in business now.
A month ago, no one was willing to speak with us except for one woman by phone. Debbie Hall claimed she'd been bitten over and over by bedbugs there.
Hall said, "They lifted up my mattress and they said, Lord have mercy you've got them bad in your bed and also spiders."
Sangani disputes Hall's claims. He said she had the bites when she got to his motel. He said he offered to refund her money if she brought him a bill from a doctor, but she never showed.
"She never brought me that and then she called me the next day and asked for cash. That's not fair," said Sangani.
Fixing the problem, he says, is his number one priority. First, getting rid of the old mattresses.
"We threw it out, about 50 sets of the mattresses. The rest of the mattresses, we are trying to clean it. They are really working hard," said Sangani, referring to his cleaning and maintenance staff.
We asked if he would allow his own family to stay in his motel.
He said he would any time.
