The remaining surface mine protesters arrested two weeks ago are being released.

The 10 remaining protesters have agreed to sign plea deals, according to Lincoln County Magistrate Court.  They pleaded guilty to trespassing and agreed to one year of probation and $500 fines each.  They also have to stay off of West Virginia mining property for one year.

Twenty people were arrested at the Hobet 21 Surface Mine in Boone County July 28. They were charged with trespassing and obstruction. Bail was set at $25,000 a piece, property only.

Last week nine of the protesters took similar plea deals. Another protester was already free, but had not taken the deal at that time.
