Drivers in one Charleston neighborhood are being urged to plan ahead due to road work just as school starts.
Chandler Drive in Charleston is right by Chandler Elementary School and that street is going to be closed starting on Wednesday in the 1800 block.
Construction crews said this will make it impossible for kids who live just across the street to walk to school. Instead they will need to get a bus or ride to the school by taking another route. "We're doing the best that we can do, you know. Unfortunately when you're digging that deep in the ground, it makes quite a big mess, and we're really good at making messes out here. But we're pretty good at cleaning them up too, and we're doing our best to minimize the inconvenience to everybody involved," said Scott Pierson with supe.pipe Plus Incorporated.
School officials said that they have sent out messages to alert parents of the change.
