As students prepare to go back to school, one Putnam County community is holding a free, family carnival to make sure everyone is ready.
Families are invited to a free back-to-school carnival on Saturday, Aug. 11, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. It's taking place at the K-Mart in Teays Valley.
Organizers plan to have free food and drinks, games,a dunk tank, finger printing, door prizes plus free backpacks and school supplies.
The carnival is sponsored by the Teays Valley Church of God in Scott Depot. "We're expecting 800 people this year. We enjoy the opportunity to connect with the families in Teays Valley. The kids always have a blast. It's our 'back to school' bash for the kids in this area. We appreciate K-Mart being such a great community partner," said Rev. Dr. Melissa Pratt, pastor at the church.
