Up to 7,000 Frontier customers without service

Frontier Communications is now reporting that as many as 7,000 customers are without cable, phone, and internet service in Charleston. The outages are from the Bigley Avenue area to Mink Shoals.

Residential and business customers are being impacted by the outage. This includes ATMs, according to Frontier Communications.

A contractor working on a project at Bullitt and Spring streets cut two Frontier cable lines that caused an outage, according to a news release from the communications company.

Frontier workers could not get access to the site, which was locked up after construction crews left for the day.

Crews have said it could be Thursday or later before a temporary solution is in place.

In the meantime, anyone living in the Charleston are near Spring Street, without phone service, should use a cell phone to call 911 if they have an emergency.  If you do not have a cell phone available go to a local fire station or hospital for emergency assistance.

Approximately 3,000 Frontier Communications customers in Charleston may be without service.

A contractor working on a project at Bullitt and Spring streets cut two Frontier cable lines that caused an outage, according to a press release from the communications company.

Frontier crews responded to the scene and will work to restore service to the area as quickly as possible, said General Manager Dennis Bloss.

He added that power should be restored within two to three days.
