
UPDATE
A husband and wife were killed in a murder-suicide Wednesday night in Oak Hill, Ohio.
Village police responded to a disturbance at 9:26 p.m. at 270 Mill St., according to a news release from the Oak Hill Police Department. Initial calls were that shots had been fired at a home there.
When officers arrived, they found Tina M. Carter, 39, on the porch of the home, the news release states. She was taken to Holzer Medical Center because of multiple gunshot wounds. She was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Police then went to 136 Mill St., Oak Hill, where they found Carter's husband, Michael F. Carter, 49, who had been killed by an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to the news release.
The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation and Identification is helping investigate the case, the news release states.
UPDATE
A family member has confirmed that the two people involved in the domestic shooting were killed.
Initial reports indicate that a man shot a woman during an altercation late last night.
Ohio State Highway Patrol and the Jackson County Sheriff's Office still were on the scene early this morning and were expected to be there for several hours.
Oak Hill is located on the east side of Jackson Lake State Park.
