A Mingo County man has pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and malicious assault.
The charges against Craig Hite stem from a 2011 incident that left one woman dead and two others injured, according to police.
Investigators said he stabbed his former stepmother to death. He also stabbed his former step-sister and father, but both managed to survive.
Judge Michael Thornsburg sentenced Hite to 40 years on the second degree murder charge and two-10 years on the malicious assault charge. He will have to serve those sentences consecutively.
