The West Virginia State Police arrested two men in connection to an incident along the picket lines outside the Constellium Rolled Products plant in Jackson County.

Troopers arrested Robert Mason Sullivan II, 49, of Evans, and Michael Fowler, 43, of Mount Alto. Both men were charged with felony destruction of property. Fowler was also charged with misdemeanor battery for his role in throwing the rock through the windshield, according to troopers.

Both suspects were arraigned in Jackson County Magistrate Court. Sullivan was released on a $5,000 bond and Fowler was released on a $6,000 bond.

On Aug. 8, three tractor-trailers owned by BESL Transfer Co. left the plant in Ravenswood and drove through a picket line. Several people on the picket line threw jack rocks into the path of the trucks, according to the State Police.

That caused flat tires on the three vehicles, police said. A jack rock was also thrown at the windshield of one of the trucks, shattering the windshield. The driver of that truck was taken to a hospital because he received an eye injury from the shattered glass. Damage to the three vehicles was estimated at $3,200, according to a news release from the State Police.

Constellium's CEO said the action was inexcusable. CEO Kyle Lorentzen also said since the strike started, there have been numerous incidents of violence occurring at the picket lines.
