Cabell County Schools announced in a press release that several schools in the district qualify for free meals.

The pilot program, Community Eligibility Option (CEO), is designed so that students living in high-poverty areas can receive free lunch and breakfast. Instead of offering reduced and free lunches to certain students, the CEO looks at data from the community a whole.

Guyandotte Elementary was an experimental school for the program last year and was shown to be a success.

The schools that are qualified for free breakfasts and lunches include: Peyton Elementary, Central City Elementary, Spring Hill Elementary, Guyandotte Elementary, Altizer Elementary, Enslow Middle, Highlawn Elementary, Cabell County Alternative, Huntington Middle, Cox Landing Elementary, Hite Saunders Elementary, Southside Elementary, Milton Elementary, Beverly Hills Middle, and Salt Rock Elementary.
