KY route 5 to close some days next week for drainage work

A vehicle accident occurred along Route 85 in Boone County at around 10:45 p.m.  Friday, leaving residents in the dark.

, according to a news release from the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet.

The project will affect seven miles of the state roadway, the news release states.

On Monday, Aug. 13, contractors will replace a failing cross-drain underneath state Route 5 at the 1.7 mile marker between Straight Creek Road and Green Springer Road. This stretch of road will be closed from 8 a.m.-8 p.m.

On Wednesday, Aug. 15, contractors will replace a cross-drain at mile marker 4.1.

On Friday, Aug. 17, a cross drain will be replaced at mile marker 4.4.

Both areas will be closed between 8 a.m.-8 p.m. each day.

During the closures, drivers can use state Route 3293, U.S. Route 60, state Route 716 or local routes as alternatives.
