Dozens of fans packed Harris Riverfront Park to see some high-speed action on the water on Saturday. The Huntington Classic Boat Races took place during Huntington's Rib and Music Fest. There are three different classes of boats for different types of races.
Sometimes boat racing is risky- as one boater found out. One man's speed boat wrecked during the practice run, but luckily, he wasn't hurt.
Organizers say boat racing is definitely a sight to see for those who have never experienced it.
"People that haven't seen boat racing are going to leave with that 'wow' factor. It's like NASCAR. The boats start from a dead stop and they run as fast as they can to the first turn," said race chairman, Dan Ferguson.
