A Kanawha County man was arrested early Sunday morning and charged with two counts of battery on an officer.
Donald Charles Canaday, 48, of Crab Orchard, spat on a deputy who was talking to him about an earlier incident at a bar, according to a news release from the Kanawha County Sheriff's Department.
A bar tender had stopped serving alcohol to Canaday and a woman, according to the news release. Canaday removed his shirt and threatened the bar tender, which is why the Sheriff's Department was called.
When talking to Canaday about the incident in the bar, he spat on a deputy, which constitutes battery on a police officer, the news release states. After he was arrested and put in a cruiser, Canaday kicked windows and banged his head on the car until he was further restrained.
At the Sheriff's Department's booking station, Canaday tried to hit another deputy before being taken to the South Central Regional Jail, according to the news release.
