A Labor Day tradition will not go on this year in Charleston. The city's traditional New Orleans-style Labor Day weekend parade has been canceled due to a lack of sponsorship.
Organizers said the event's main sponsor pulled out of the event this year. They are hopeful that it will return in 2013.
The parade is a signature event for the now-defunct Charleston Sternwheel Regatta. Organizers said that 1,500 people attended the so-called "funeral parade" last year.
