Belle trucker places 3rd in national driving championship

A truck driver from Belle placed third in the recent National Truck Driving Championship.

Kenneth Grimmett drives a flatbed tractor-trailer for Con-Way Freight, according to a news release from the West Virginia Trucking Association. The National Trucking Associations sponsors the event.

The event took place Aug. 7-11 in Minneapolis, Minn.

"Kenneth Grimmett is a true driving professional and a wonderful representative for his industry," state Trucking Association President Jan Vineyard said in the news release. "Kenneth placed first in the Flatbed Class in the West Virginia Truck Driving Championship and we are proud of his accomplishments on the national stage."

Grimmett received the "One Million Mile Distinguished Driver Award" earlier this year, according to the news release. That puts him in the top 1 percent of the nation's truck drivers.

Grimmett has driven more than 10 years without a wreck, according to the news release.
