Three escape massive fire in a home on Walnut Street in Kanawha County
The fire that killed two women in Scioto County Tuesday started near a kitchen stove, according to a release from the Division of State Fire Marshal.
The coroner's office identified the victims as Alice Jordan, 90, and Nellie Allard, 65. The cause of the fire will be ruled as undetermined. Additionally, investigators found no evidence of criminal intent, but the home in Rush was badly damaged and lacked any smoke detectors.
The news release stated that the Division of State Fire Marshal, the Rush Township Fire Department and the Scioto County Coroner's Office helped carry out the investigations. Several mutual aid fire departments assisted extinguishing the flames.
