Tri-state law enforcement agencies to enforce "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" campaign

Posted: Updated:

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet announced in a press release that law enforcement in the tri-state area will be cracking down on impaired driving.

The "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" campaign runs from August 17 through September 3. Boyd County and surrounding areas will see an increase in officers from the Ashland Police Department, Catlettsburg Police Department, Kentucky State Police and other law enforcement agencies teaming up with the Kentucky Office of Highway Safety for the nationwide effort.

In 2011, there were more than 5,600 crashes in Kentucky that were drug or alcohol related. Those accidents caused 150 deaths and 3,000 injuries.
