The late T. Randolph Cox was honored on Wednesday as the 2012 Spirit of the Valley Award recipient.
A longtime Charleston lawyer and community figure, Cox died in October 2011 during the week of his 62nd birthday.
He was also a former board chairman of the Greater Kanawha Valley Foundation, and a member of the board of directors of the West Virginia Chamber of Commerce and the Charleston YMCA.
The Spirit of the Valley award is given each year by the YMCA for community service.
Organizers of the event said that Cox lived a life charity, wisdom, patience and humility, and that his work through the community touched many lives.
Wednesday's luncheon at the Charleston Civic Center also serves as part of the YMCA Annual Support Campaign which raises money for the YMCA Community Assistance Fund and YMCA programs.
