FEMA wraps up re-assessments after individual assistance is denied

Posted: Updated:

Storms victims hope FEMA will have a change of heart after it denied individual assistance to those affected by the derecho storm on June 29.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency just wrapped up its re-assessments of homes and communities that were ravaged by intense winds and rain, according to FEMA representative Frank Blake.

Blake said FEMA representatives went to 16 counties.  Some of the re-assessments were in new areas and some were not.

Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin will use the latest findings when he appeals FEMA's decision and asks the agency to reconsider its decision on individual assistance.
