Road construction forces changes for some Kanawha County school buses

Students return to class in Kanawha County on Friday, Aug. 17. Drivers are asked to watch for school buses. Police will be out in force, patrolling school zones.

Road construction projects are going to have an impact on some school routes. In the Sugar Creek area, several schools will be affected. Buses that serve Flinn Elementary, Sissonville Middle School and Sissonville High School will have to make adjustments, according to a news release from the Kanawha County school system. The buses affected are numbers 1017 and 1019L. These buses will meet children at the Sugar Creek and Handshaw Intersection. It's also known as the Sugar Creek Missionary Baptist Church.

Meeting times for bus number 1017, which serves Sissonville High School in the morning, from 6:20 a.m. to 6:25 p.m. Flinn Elementary will be from 7:10 a.m. to 7:15 p.m. and students who need to get to Sissonville Middle School can meet the bus at 7:55 a.m. to 8 a.m.

Afternoon drop off for the high school and elementary school is from 3 p.m. to 3:05 p.m. The middle school is from 4:10 p.m. to 4:15 p.m., according to the same news release.

Bus number 1019L can be met at 6 a.m. and 4:15 p.m.

The changes will be in effect until further notice, according to the news release.
