The strike at Constellium Rolled Products LLC in Ravenswood, LLC is moving into its second week.
The company is operating the facility with limited staffing. Meanwhile, this will be the first time that workers won't get a paycheck. By the end of August, health care benefits, which currently are paid for by the company, will end as well.
A news release from Constellium on Thursday evening explained that employees will have to purchase COBRA coverage in order to continue medical and dental coverage.
Union employees went on strike beginning Aug. 5 and the parties have not met since, according to the Constellium news release.
The picket line became violent at one point in the early days of strike.
Two men face charges of attacking trucks that crossed a picket line outside Constellium Rolled Products. West Virginia State Police said one truck driver suffered an eye injury when a rock shattered his vehicle's windshield.
State Police charged Robert Mason Sullivan II, 49, of Evans, and Michael Robert Fowler, 43, of Mount Alto with destruction of property. They are accused of flattening the tires of three trucks leaving the plant by throwing jack rocks into the vehicles' path.
Fowler also is charged with misdemeanor battery stemming from the rock incident.
