The month of August marks the 92nd anniversary of the women's right to vote.
To celebrate, the Cabell County Republican Executive committee hosted the Women of Influence dinner Friday night. There were several public figures there to pay homage to the women who make a difference in their communities.
The two women honored were Nancy Cartmill and Elizabeth Raese. Nancy Cartmill is a Cabell County Commissioner and was honored for her work in the county. Elizabeth Raese is part of the Conservative Women of West Virginia who helped to provide tracking bracelets for people with Alzheimer's disease and children with Down Syndrome.
Congresswoman Shelley Moore Capito was a guest speaker at the event.
"For those milestones, it's always a good remind us that it wasn't always so easy and to keep moving forward. It's also to say congratulations to the women who are being honored here," Capito said.
"You do your job day after day, and you wonder 'does anyone appreciate me?' So this was a night to let our women know in our state and our community that we really appreciate their work and that it doesn't go unnoticed," said T-Anne See with the Cabell County Republican Executive Committee.
Several male public officials served the women dinner to show their appreciation.
