The University of Charleston releases details about 'teach out' plan at MSU

Posted: Updated:

The University of Charleston released details on its web site Friday, Aug. 17, that outline the teach out plan for Mountain State University students.

Students and parents are encouraged to visit www.ucwv.edu/msustudents to learn about the different options for continuing their education toward graduation.

MSU's accreditation will be withdrawn on Dec. 31, and MSU will cease to be an educational institution.

"The clearest path for a MSU student is to take the teach out path because you can graduate through the University of Charleston in May, under Mountain State requirements. You cannot do that with other institutions that are not in the teach out," said UC President Edwin Welch.

UC is the primary partner in MSU's teach-out plan, and is planning to offer classes in Beckley, Martinsburg and in online programs beginning Jan. 1, 2013.

The information provided on UC's web site is intended to help students determine how to proceed with registration for the fall, and how to complete their degree.
