Friday evening with an after-hours corporate volleyball tournament hosted by the YMCA. The winner takes on a team from the Extreme Volleyball Professionals tour on Saturday.
Other events throughout the weekend include jet ski racing, beach volleyball matches and the annual firefighter combat challenge. "A lot of our guys that come out here to compete, they will spend time in the gym or on a courses that simulate different aspects of the combat challenge because the challenge itself is modeled after different aspects of fire fighting that are important to making sure these guys are in shape so they can save lives," said Michael Degrandpre.
Charleston's weekly concert series was also part of the event this year. Live on the Levee featured the Stan McDaniel Band and River Jam at Haddad Riverfront Park on Friday evening.
Sportsfest continues through the weekend from 9 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday.
