A Cabell county man is lucky to be alive after the tractor he was riding slipped off the roadside and pinned him upside down in a creek.

It happened just before 6 p.m. Sunday on Darnell Road.

Neighbors say they heard Jeff Ashworth yelling for help and called 911.

Cabell County sheriff deputies say they held Ashworth's head out of the water until EMS workers pulled him out of the creek.

They say if it had not been for neighbors, he probably would have drowned.

Ashworth suffered injuries to his legs and head and was taken to Cabell Huntington Hospital.

Friends and family used their tractors to pull the wrecked tractor out of the creek.

There is no word on his condition.
