WOWK 13News thanks everyone who came out over the weekend to support the United Way's Sunday Scoop event.

The cool treats brought out hundreds of people to the special event at the Mound in South Charleston. In its seventh year, the Sunday Scoop was part of the city's Summerfest celebration.

A number of local companies and organizations decorated their booths and scooped out delicious ice cream flavors in return for donations. The theme for the WOWK 13News booth this year was centered around the station's upcoming program lineup and the addition of "Katie" to its afternoon programming. Katie Couric's talk show debuts on WOWK on Sept. 10 at 3 p.m.

April Kaull, Spencer Adkins, Bryan Hughes, Jack Kane, Sarah Lieu, Alanna Autler and many others were on hand Sunday to scoop ice cream. The WOWK 13News team dished out more than 50 gallons of ice cream.

Dow Chemical walked away with the top prize in the booth decorating contest.
