A Boone County man was sentenced in federal court on Monday.

Gary Profitt, 55, of Danville, will spend a year and a half in prison for possession with intent to distribute oxycodone. Officers made a traffic stop in March 2009, and found 28 oxycodone pills in Profitt's car.

He admitted to having the pills and planning to sell them around Boone County. Investigators said that Profitt also admitted to making other trips to get pills during the six months before his arrest.

The United States Attorney's Office prosecuted the case. The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) conducted the initial investigation.
