Wayne County woman pleads guilty to sex offender registry violat - WOWK 13 Charleston, Huntington WV News, Weather, Sports

A Wayne County woman pleaded guilty in federal court on Monday. Authorities said that Tammy Payton, 42, of Crum, failed to update her sex offender registration.

Payton was required to update her registration after being convicted on July 11, 2001, in Lawrence County, Ohio of complicity to commit rape. She admitted to traveling from Ohio to West Virginia. Sometime after August 2007, Payton started living in Crum.

Payton faces up to 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine when she's sentenced in November. 

The United States Marshals Service and the Cabell County Sheriff's Department handled the investigation.
