Woman arrested in Chelyan stabbing 1st reported as a home invasion

Investigators arrested a woman in connection to a stabbing that originally was reported as a home invasion in Chelyan Monday morning.

Kanawha County Sheriff's Department deputies arrested Sarah E. Halstead, 28, of Chelyan, and charged her with the malicious wounding of Jason Eric Hall, 35, also of Chelyan, according to a news release from the department.

Hall originally told investigators he was stabbed during a home invasion, the news release. Later, Hall told deputies his girlfriend, Halstead, had stabbed him during a domestic argument.

After the stabbing, Halstead went to Boone County, the news release states. Deputies got a warrant for her arrest and went to Boone County. Kanawha investigators and Madision Police Department officers arrested her.

She was taken to the South Central Regional Jail where she was awaiting arraignment this morning, according to the news release.
