Neighbors in one Charleston neighborhood are shocked after a double shooting sent two men to the hospital.
Charleston Police said Darrow Dobbs, 28, and Kelvin Nolen, 23, were shot inside of an apartment on McCormick Street early Monday morning.
Both men are from Detroit.
Witnesses said there were children sleeping inside of the apartment when the shooting took place.
One woman, who did not want to be identified, said the shooting happened at her sister's apartment.
When she heard the news that there had been a shooting, she feared for the worst.
"I got a phone call that I needed to get to my sisters house. Then I got another phone call saying somebody got shot," she said.
She later learned that her family members were safe. She was not familiar with either Dobbs or Nolen.
Police said they aren't sure what or who the gunman was looking for. But, he ended up shooting both men, police said.
The victims were taken to Charleston Area Medical Center and are expected to survive, according to police.
Neighbors said this kind of violence shouldn't be tolerated in an area where children live and play.
"It still could have been a kid, baby would have woken up, and ran down the steps, ran past; it could have been anybody," a witness said.
Police said the shooting and motive are still under investigation.
No arrests have been made.
