UPDATE

Hurricane Police have released the names of the couple from last night's murder-suicide.

Christopher Wayne Kinder, 41, and his girlfriend, Katherine Nicole Taylor, 33, lived together in a house in Kelley's Cove, according to Mayor Scott Edwards.

Evidence indicates Kinder stabbed Taylor multiple times, then Kinder stuck a 12-gauge shotgun in his mouth and pulled the trigger, Edwards said. The couple's 9-month-old daughter was home and is with a family member.

Police are continuing their investigation to determine a motive, the mayor said.

This is the first murder in Hurricane in more than 20 years, Edwards said.

A candlelight vigil is planned at 8 p.m. Sunday at Capital High School to remember Katherine Nicole Taylor.
