UPDATE: Name released in fatal motorcycle crash in Cabell County

UPDATE

The Huntington Police Department has released the name of the person who was killed in a motorcycle crash on I-64 on Thursday.

Wilmer G. Ditton, 71, of Anderson Island, Wash., was killed when his motorcycle left the westbound lanes and crashed in the median.

Police said the motorcycle hit a traffic sign before it was stopped by the cable median barrier. The crash remains under investigation.

 


 

UPDATE

All lanes of Interstate 64 near the Fifth Street exit near Huntington are open to traffic.

Emergency crews at the scene have confirmed that a motorcycle rider died in the accident that shut down part of I-64 earlier in the evening.

An accident has shut down two lanes of Interstate 64 in Cabell County.

Emergency dispatchers said it happened just before 6:30 p.m. near the Fifth Street exit.

A motorcycle lost control and ended up tangled in the median cable barriers.

Cabell County officials said one eastbound and westbound lane are closed in the area.

No word yet on when they will reopen.
