What started as a small block party is now a popular annual event for the residents of Guyandotte.

The sixth annual SwineFest got underway Friday evening.

It features rides, music, and lots of roasted pig over the next three days.

This year's theme is "Guyandotte Gets Scared".

The event will include a haunted tour of the Huntington neighborhood and a zombie attack.

"It is growing. I think a part of it are the themes. We use interactive themes and get the community involved," said Rick Simmons, organizer.

Simmons said the first SwineFest drew about 100 people. He expects to have several thousand attend over a three-day period this year.
