WV National Guard testing hazard response

Posted: Updated:

The West Virginia National Guard will put its ability to respond to chemical, biological, and even nuclear threats to the test this week.

According to a press release, the National Guard's Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear Enhanced Response Force Package (CERF-P) will be evaluated  Tuesday, Aug. 28, at Camp Dawson in Kingwood, W.Va.

The 186-member team, consisting of both Army and Air National Guard members, will take a series of tests that will evaluate how they respond to several hazard scenarios.

Only 17 states have CERF-P units, including West Virginia, whose unit was first validated in 2004.
